2010 ANOGUSA Image Awards Recipients
The ANOG Image & Service Award is an honor bestowed on distinguished Nigerians, resident in Georgia, who have projected positive "Image" of Nigerians in their professional and community activities, who have made notable contributions for the advancement their communities, locally and abroad, and who, by their conduct and reputation, have provided a shining example to succeeding generations of Nigerians, home and abroad.
Dr. Christian Ezekwueche, Alhaji Olanrewaju Oladega and Dr. Ezekiel Macham have been chosen as the ANOG 2010 Image Award recipients. The three have contributed immensely in their different ways in promoting Nigeria's image both at their professional duties and the community. They were recognized at our annual banquet event on September 25, 2010. Follow the links on the right panel for more information on each honoree.

Dr. Christian Mbamalu Ezekwueche, MD, FACOG, FICS) attended University of Ibadan/University College Hospital (1963 - 1971). He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS), : Clinical Instructor at George Washington University Teaching Hospital and established an OB/GYN practice at Group Health Association, Washington, D.C. In 1983 he established very successful OBGYN practice in Macon, Georgia.He has served as assistant Clinical Professor in OB/GYN at the Mercer University College of Medicine, Macon, GA, and he is President-Elect, Bibb County Medical Society (2008).
Dr. Ezekwueche served/serves on:the board of the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA), the board of the Central Georgia Health Systems, The Credentialing Committee of the Medical Center of Central Georgia, Chair of the OB/GYN Department, Medical Center of Central Georgia, Contributor to the Medcen Community Foundation, Member, the Callaway Society and Patron, Abagana Welfare Union in GA and USA.
Accomplishments:
- Conducted and participated in medical missions to Nigeria and Africa
- From 1985, established scholarship program to benefit all children in the Obo extended family for education
- Established the scholarship program at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Boy's Secondary School (NASA), Abagana and the Abagana Girls School
- Supporter of The Nigerian Youth Alliance (NYA)
- Supporter of the Umu Igbo Unite, Atlanta
- Established the Christian & Chi Ezekwueche Foundation for support in Medicine and the Arts and to help families in need
Contributions/Service to the Nigerian Community in Diaspora:
- Founded Abagana Welfare Union, Georgian (1991) that spearheaded the building of the new Girls Science School at Abagana. Established Abagana Welfare Union in the Americas (1995.)
- Founder of the Nigerian Organization, Middle Georgia that hosted the first Nigerian Heritage Festival in 1994, in Macon
- Founding member, The Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas, ANPA
- Founding member, 100 IGBOS, USA
- Member, Igbo Union Atlanta, INC
- Participated in several Fundraisers to benefit Nigeria and the USA
- Major supporter of Nigerian events and organizations
- Contributor to several Capital Campaigns with The new Tubman African American Museum in Macon, Igbo Union building, Atlanta, the Ronald McDonald building in Macon, the Girls Science School , Abagana

Dr. Ezekiel Macham is from Butura in Bokkos local government area of Plateau State, Nigeria. He currently works with the Dekalb County Public School in Georgia. He hold a PhD in International Affairs and Development from Clark Atlanta University, a Masters Degree in Agricultural Extension and Technical Services from Tuskegee University and a Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Business Education at the Tuskegee University, Tuskegee, Alabama.
Dr. Macham 's love for selfless community services can be trailed back horne to Nigeria where he designed dams and irrigation canals for Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority for the benefit of the community. While in the US, Dr. Macham's passion for community service continues where he served or currently serving the Nigerian community in the following areas:
- Served for two terms as the President of the Alliance of Nigerian Organizations in Georgia (ANOG), working tirelessly to bring Nigerians in Georgia under one umbrella, promoting unity and togetherness irrespective of ethnic or language background
- Led a powerful delegation to Delta airlines to fight for improved customer service for flights to Nigeria
- Led a Nigerian delegation to appear on CNN to defend the law-abiding, and anti-terrorist stance of the Nigerian community in USA
- Served for one term as the Chairman/CEO of NICORE, a core group of Nigerian professionals in Atlanta, promoting economic emancipation and progress of Nigerians in Georgia
- Served as President of Zumunta Association of Atlanta, bringing together all members for cooperation and common goals
- Served as the chairman conflict committee of Zumunta Association USA Inc. where he led the organization in pursuit of peace initiatives following conflicts in the North
- Serves as the President of ZUIUlmta Association USA Inc
- Serves as Board Member of Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDOA), empowering, coordinating and fighting the cause of all Nigerians in Diaspora in North America

Alhaji Olanrewaju Lateef Oladega was born in Lagos, Nigeria. He earned an MBA degree and also an Oracle Certified Professional. Alhaji Oladega currently works with the State of Georgia as Information Technology Specialist managing the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) database projects for the past 9 years with high professional standard and etiquette to the public and the agency he serves.
In the Nigerian community where is he well known for his commitment to humanitarian causes, Alhaji Oladega is not only a member but served in key positions in the following Nigerian Community organizations:
- Eko Club Atlanta (10 years as member, 6 years as the General Secretary)
- Eko Club International (10 years as a member and 4 years as the General Secretary)
- Alliance of Nigerian Organization (6 years as member and 4 year as the General Secretary)
- Nasir-Llah Organization of Atlanta (10 years as member and 5 years as the PRO)
